All the families loved it! The recipes are excellent and the children were already looking forward to the next workshop. Some parents mentioned that they did not think of having children read recipes in order to practice reading and that too often they thought that children could only make recipes for cupcakes. Everyone greatly appreciated taking time out with their family.

Director (La Clef de la Galerie, Fortierville)

At the beginning of the workshop, the resource person from the organization clearly explained the purpose of the project. We then took the time to read the recipe with the children and explained the words (example: baste). One of my favourite stories: a single dad with his 3 children including a little girl with difficult eating habits that needed to change. Still, she really liked the salmon burger! Cook-words is a great project, very well put together! It’s truly an honour to be a chef for the project. We change lives and we don’t realize it enough!

We loved offering these workshops to our clientele and were able to count on the Literacy Foundation. As counsellors, we took care of the reading component, then Chef Laure took over for the culinary component by creating a warm atmosphere with the families. The children were really sad when it was over!

Virtual Cook-words

Community organizations and adult education centres in Quebec have the option of organizing culinary activities and receiving participating families in their facilities. A chef from La Tablée des Chefs is then invited on site to lead the workshops during which two recipes are prepared. An employee from the organization is also on site to support the chef in facilitating the workshops.

Face-to face Cook-words

Community organizations and adult education centres in Quebec also have the option of offering culinary activities virtually. The workshops, accessible on the Lära platform, are led by a chef from La Tablée des Chefs and a primary school teacher. Each workshop includes a recipe to cook as well as interactive quizzes and educational videos to enhance the experience of participating families.
